Questions bands ask

What happens to our data if we cancel Pro?

Nothing is deleted. Your funds ledger, merch catalog, contacts, albums, and press kit stay exactly as you left them — they're hidden behind the Pro features until you upgrade again, and they come back in full the moment you do. Recordings you've already uploaded keep playing and downloading even if you're over the free storage cap; you just can't add new ones until you're back under it.

Will my bandmates actually use this?

That's the bar we build to. There's no feed to keep up with and nothing to check daily — a bandmate can go straight to the one thing they came for, whether that's tonight's setlist, the take you recorded at practice, or how much is in the band pot. Most of the band never has to touch settings or billing at all; one person sets it up and everyone else just opens the page.

Is RiffPile going to stick around?

It's a paid product with a simple, honest business model: bands pay for Pro, and that revenue funds the work. There's no investor clock forcing a pivot or a shutdown, and shipped updates are listed with dates on the changelog so you can see the pace for yourself rather than take our word for it. If RiffPile ever did wind down, your recordings and data are yours to take with you.

Can I get a refund?

You shouldn't need one — Pro is free for 14 days with no card required, so you can run a full month of practices and a gig or two before you pay anything. Once you are paying, fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. You can cancel any time from the billing portal in your band's settings, and Pro stays on through the end of the period you already paid for.

What if our organizer leaves the band?

A band can have more than one owner, and any owner can promote another member to owner from settings. RiffPile also refuses to remove or demote the last owner, so a band can't end up locked out of its own account. If the person who set everything up leaves, hand ownership to whoever is taking over and nothing else changes.

Do we need to be a “working” band?

No. “Working band” describes who Pro is priced for, not who's allowed in. The free plan covers 10 songs, 3 shows, 3 practices, and up to 5 members, which is plenty for a project that rehearses in a basement and plays a few times a year. Upgrade when the gigs, the merch, and the money start outgrowing it.

Is the price per band or per person?

Per band. One Pro subscription covers everyone in the band at the same price, whether you're a duo or a ten-piece — for a five-piece that works out to about $6 per member per month. Adding a bandmate never costs more.

RiffPile is currently invite-only — you'll need an access code to start a band. Upgrades happen in your band's settings once you're in.
